OFI is a 501(c)3 charity that relies almost entirely on donations from its generous supporters, primarily individuals who care about conservation, the fate of the Earth, and the welfare of animals. OFI relies on its supporters to continue its important work protecting wild orangutan populations, rain forests, and wildlife in Indonesia, especially Borneo. We care about both conservation and animal welfare, making OFI a unique organization. We have saved hundreds of individual captive orangutans and other animals from a dire life in captivity by returning them to a free life in the wild.
